Supramolecular technology for Chinese Traditional Medicine (CTM) is a new researching field in the modernization of CTM. In this article, we have studied Supramolecular formation mechanism, preparation methods, physical and chemical properties. Based on models of the molecular structures and sizes of Tanshinones and β-Cyclodextrin which are imitated by the software and the computing of the energy change of the Supramolecular system before and after the inclusion process, we infered that Tanshinones and β -Cyclodextrin can form the Supramolecular stracture. Supramolecular technology used for the alcoholic extract from Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. has been studied, and a new method used for extracting and isolating the effective ingredients in the CTM has been primarily established. Four monomer Tanshinones have been isolated from the deincluding process through the aluminum oxide chromatography, and their molecular structures have been corroborated with spectral methods and other methods. A comparision of the solubility and dissolubility of Tanshinone IIA and its inclusion complex was determined by UV spectroscopy. The stability constants of inclusion complexes of four Tanshinones with β -CD and their mixture with β -CD have also been determined by UV spectroscopy at multiwavelengthes. The concentration of Tanshinone IIA in the rat's plasma has been determined by HPLC.On the basis of study on Tanshinones supramolecular technology, the quality standards, preparation technics and pharmacological researching, toxicological researching of Tanshinone compound preparation have all been completed. Some TLC discriminating methods have been established in our work. These methods can be used to distinguish some CTM (such as Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge., Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort., Pueraria lobata Ohwi., Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi., Panax notoginseng F.H.Chen) in Tanshinone compound preparation. A quantitative measurement for Tanshinone IIA and Ginsenoside Rbl has also been established. We provide a new method for controlling the quality of Supramolecular compound preparation. The effective term of Tanshinone Supramolecular compound preparation is detected by accelerated stability trial at constant temperature. By ligating the dog's coronary artery, the effect of preventing the lacking of blood in cardiac muscle's is check. The acute toxicological experiment has been completed. The experimental results are effective reference for clinical application.
