OBJECTIVE: To observe the pathological change of photoceptor and other tissues of eye in experimental dyslipidemia C57BL mice and investigate the relationship between the dyslipidemia model and Age-related Macular Degeneration(AMD) and explore the therapeutical effect of the Chinese recipe Huangbankang on the dyslipidemia model at the same time. METHODS: The dyslipidemia model copyed by feeding fat dietary in C57BL mice. The three-month-old mice were randomized to three groups: three-month-old chow-fed group, eight-month-old chow-fed group and eight-month-old high-fat-fed group. The three-month-old group (twelve mice) sacrificed one week later; The eight-month-old group(twelve mice) sacrificed five months later; The eight-month-old high-fat-fed group (forty eight mice) fed with high fat diet for five mouths and then twelve mice were selected randomly and sacrificed. All of serum lipid, hemorheology, malondialdehyde(MDA) index and eyeball structure were measured. Pathological section of the mice eyeballs were observed under light microscope and transmission electron microscope (TEM) by immunohistochemistry staining and Masson staining. After dyslipidemia model were confirmed, the remained eight-month-old dyslipidemia model were randomized to three groups: the negative control group, positive medicine control group and Huangbankang treated group. Each group had twelve mice and fed by normal diet for four weeks and then all the mice were executed and the mentioned indexes above were detected. The results were analized according to the SPSS for windows 11.5 software. RESULTS: The body weight, total cholesterol (TC ), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), hemorheological index and serum MDA in dyslipidemia model group were higher than the three-month-old chow-fed group and the...
