Mind is the collectively of spirit and emotions. Chinese medicine for the mental Diseases has more comprehensive and systematic understanding of the law governing. Prescription left by predecessors is still being widely used in clinical.Compared in terms of Western philosophy, Chinese philosophy was regardless of the characteristics of mind and matter since ancient times. Unity body and spirit of Chinese medical theory developed a more mature, we should continue to explore and promote. Benefit from the theory of harmonization between soma and spirit built in HuangDi NeiJing, Zhongjing form of treatment from the form to spirit.This research is divided into four parts.The first part of the thesis summarizes the modern advances of studies on the treatment of mental disease by classical prescription. Include the following:(1) theory:the law of Diseases, symptoms classification, treatment of ideas; (2) by the prescription:Lily in categorized formulas, Suanzaoren Decoction, Ganmai Dazao Decoction, Banxia Houpu Decoction, and Bupleurum in categorized formulas, Zhizichi Decoction, and the combined prescription.The second part of the thesis looked back on the mental illness ideological roots of diagnosis and treatment in Zhongjing doctrine. Include the following:(1) Unity of appearance and spirit in Chinese culture:the meaning of the spirit, the relationship of spirit, qi and vitality of the human body, division and location of spirit. (2) The view of combined physique-spirit treatment:the disease of spirit, the examination and treatment of spirit disorder.The third part of the thesis made essentials introduction to diagnose and treatment of the mental disease in Zhongjing doctrine. Include the following:(1) the summarization of spirit distinguished by Zhongjing. Mental symptoms include irritability, Oh Nong, Addicted to lying, Yu Mei, manic disturbance, insomnia, delirium, Frantic, and miscellaneous diseases. Pathogenesis include yang deficiency, recovery, stagnation, and the excessive heat, heat accumulation, impairment of fluid after stagnation of yang changing into heat, as well as Qi asthenia, yin deficiency, retained fluid, hui-jue, etc. (2) the summarization of treating spirit. Therapies is consist of activating yang, relieve depression, clearing heat, warming yang, nourishing yin, invigorate vital energy, calm the nerves, etc. Medicine include ramulus cinnamomi, fructus, Bupleurum chinense, pinelliae, scutellaria, cypsum fibrosum, Cape jasmine fruit, rhubarb, zingiberis, aconite root, rehmannia, colla corii asini, licorice root, ginseng, fossilia ossis mastoid, Ostreae testa, etc. Obviously, there is close relationship between these two aspectsThe fourth part of the thesis analysis the influence of Zhongjing doctrine on diagnose and treatment of the mental disease. The content includes the thought of Liu Wansu, Zhang Congzheng, Li Dongyuan, Zhu Danxi, Zhang Jiebin on the diagnosis and treatment of mental disease, and their relationship with Zhongjing doctrine.
