The Study Of College Chinese Textbooks (1978-2008)

College Chinese textbooks are very important in college Chinese teaching because the textbooks affect teaching quality directly. As a result it is essential to research college Chinese textbooks. This paper has four values. (1) It reviews the writing conditions of 350 textbooks roundly. Thus it has historical materials values. (2) It attempt to divide into some stages of the college Chinese textbooks after the area of reform and open. So researchers can be convenient to grasp the characteristics of textbooks in different periods. (3) It reviews all the 350 textbooks in ration and make the textbooks research refine. (4) This research analyses the experiences and shortages from textbook writing and advances the advices which has much pertinence. All of the works have some reference values for enhancing the college Chinese textbook writing quality in our country.This paper can be divided into six chapters.The first chapter is "introduction". This chapter introduces the related survey at home and abroad and clarifies the aims and significances of this paper. It explains the research measures, especially for the textbooks before 1978. Furthermore, it finds that the textbooks before 1978 have the characteristics as follows:(1) The textbooks before 1978 are different from others on typeset fashion and the forms of characters. (2) The content is only constituted by the literary selections. (3) The literary selections appears the characteristic to take account of both ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign. (4)College Chinese textbooks published from 1949 to 1950 have many differences with former ones on political views, literary selections of Chinese and abroad, ancient and modern.The second chapter is "the college Chinese textbooks at recovery time (1978——1996.5)". This chapter introduces the emerging background of the textbooks at this time. We review the publishing and wholesale, constitute of the content system, arrange style of selections and the conditions of literary selections of these textbooks. The study finds that the circulation numbers of these textbooks are very considerable. The primary kinds of these books are the types of literary selections. Chinese and Chinese.antiquity productions are in the majority. Most the ancient and modern textbooks of recovery time are poems. Most contemporary ones are literature writings and most foreign writings are fictions. This section finds the textbooks at recovery time have the characteristics as follows:firstly, the compiling is fine; secondly, the composing forms of the main content are enrich; thirdly, the textbooks take account of both ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign; fourthly, the development of the textbooks is a little slow.The third chapter is "college Chinese textbooks at the period of education for all-around(1996.6——2008.12)". This section briefly introduces the background of textbooks development at the earlier and later stage of education for all-around. We review the publishing and wholesale, constitute of the content system, arrange style of selections and the conditions of literary selections of these textbooks. It finds that the circulation numbers of this period decline than the recovery period. Most textbooks of education for all-around of earlier stage are literary selections. The ones of later stage are literary selections and writings. The majority of the literary selections are Chinese and Chinese antiquity productions. Most antiquity and modern composition are poems. The majority of contemporary compositions are literature and art. Most foreign compositions of contemporary textbooks at earlier stage are novels. And those at later stage are poems. The textbooks at this period have four characteristics. Firstly, the composing forms of the main content are enrich; secondly, the compiling kinds are flexible and enrich; thirdly, it has a prominent characteristics that the textbooks take account of both ancient and modern, Chinese and foreign; fourthly, the development of the textbooks is relatively quick.The fourth chapter is "case analysis:a part of representative college Chinese textbooks at current time". This section introduces some representative textbooks of undergraduate course. We analysis the representative textbooks of "college Chinese" edited by XU Zhongyu and Qi Shenhua at 2007 and "college Chinese" edited by Chen Hong at 2005. The condition of compiling is introduced. Furthermore, we compare the two textbooks and introduce some textbooks of school of higher professional technology and junior college. The representative textbooks are "college Chinese" edited by Sun Xinguang and "practical college Chinese" edited by Lu Yutuan and Deng Futian at 2008. It introduces the compiling conditions and compares the two books.The fifth chapter is "ponder based on building up the college Chinese textbook after 1978". The section sums up the experience and successes of building up textbooks after 1978 and reveals the specific problems with the books. At last we raise the suggestion on how to enhance the quality of compiling textbooks.The sixth chapter is "conclusion". The section advances some compiling principles of college Chinese textbooks.
