Research On The Graphic Variants Phenomenon In The Warring States Period Scripts

This dissertation studied the graphic variants phenomenon in the Warring States period scripts by both historical comparison and synchronic study. Based on the synchronic description, this article highlighted the diachronic studies and analysis. In the synchronic level,the article put forward the identification principle of the graphic variant relation in the Warring States Period scripts, examined the regional appearance of the graphic variants by the examples of Chu,Jin and Qin characters and also did category research on the Warring States period scripts for further studies. In the diachronic level, the article studied the succession of historical evolution of the graphic variants of the Warring States Period scripts and the relationship between the variants and the pictograph-phonetic processing in the Warring States Period scripts, and also went into depth on the causes of the graphic variants of the Warring States Period scripts.
