Wen Tingyun is an important poet of late Tang. Becaue of his contemporary eponym Li Shangyin, they together were named "Wen Li". Later the recipient think he DuMu, with Li Shangyin, XuHun is important poets of late Tang.Wen Tingyun was also the originator of the Ci-verses. Becaue of late Tang Dynasty Ci-verser WeiZhuang, they together were named "Wen Wei"Wen Tingyun also excels in paralleled-prose. The Three-Sixteen Paralleled-prose refers to the Paralleled-prose exemplified by Li Shangyin, Wen Tingyun and Duan Chengshi.This thesis intends to study integrality of Wen Tingyun's poems, to analyze his life and his family, his thoughs, contents and the artistic features of his poems, langdscape and The Cultures in the South bank of Yangtze River reflected in his poems and to investigate the history of acceptance in the Chinese literary from Late-Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. The most reliable version of the anthology of Wen is edited by Zen yi and Gu sili,namely the Annotating Edition of Wen Tingyun's Poetry. The Annotating Edition of the anthology of Wen by Liu Xuekai is also reliable. Based upon two Annotating Editions. this thesis analyzes Wen Tingyun's poems, tries to bring some innovative understanding and opinions about Wen's poems.The thesis consists of six chapters. The first chapter "Introduction" makes abrief introduction of this research and a comment upon former ones. There are more than twenty monographs and three hundred papers concerned with Wen Tingyun. The investigation is fruitful especially after the 1980s. The monographs includes biography, Ci -verses, general studies,etc. the papers are mainly about Wen's life, his thoughts,his Ci-verses and poems and so on. The pqpers of researching Ci -verses is more than that of researching poems. Among these topics, resarchers pays more attention to the issues such as Wen's Birth Year and Died of Year, his Native placea and Lineage, his Relegaing, his thoughs and personality, Wen's rel association Crown pringce Zhuangke.The second chapter "Bakeground of Writing" analyzes his family and life, his thoughs and personity. Ancestor of Wen toke part in founding Tang Dynasty. This cncourges Wen to pursuit his Confucian ideal. Wen Tingyun take firmly part in the Imperial Examination. He has the Confucian tradition thought and personality.Wen Tingyun hold a psssion of his country and the people and an ambitionof restoring the nation. When he have't realized his ideal, he vent unsuccessful resentful. Due to Era, there are new factors in his thoughs and personality. Wen Tingyun went against Confucian moral principles. For money, Wen Tingyun bought his own writing articles. Because have satired the dignitary, Wen reprised. His life is tragic.The third chapter "The Classification and Contennä»–of Wen Tingyun's Poems" expatiates from eight aspects. Section One:express self emotion.The late Tang Dynasty is in the middle of national crisis. Wen Tingyun wants to have contributed to the state and people,but many times he failed in the imperial examination.When Wen can't bring about his ideal, he expressed their anguish and indignation in his poems. Section Two:nostalgia to ancient times. This category of poems either uses the past to satirze the present, or meditates on the past to express the present emotion. SectionThree:love. Wen Tingyun was a romantic poet, and was to associate with song being prostitutes. He wrote a large number of woman subject matter poetry, some poetry expressed sincere love, another describled sense organs. Section Four:lyric poetry on the journey. This poetry describles scenery eatch other, expressing homesick feelings. Section Five:friend-making and nostalgic. These poems are divided mainly into three kinds:the first bestowals to friends.the second misses old friends,the third mourned ones. Section Six:feats and music dancing. Wen often attended the party. He wrote many poems about dangce and music. Section Seven:monk temple and home. The poetry describled temple scenery, conception being peaceful. On the other time, Wen have lived some times in the Hu Du suburbs. There he wrote some poetry describling the life.Section Eight:chanting things and chanting seasonais.Wen often neglected, the concrete bodies of things and described things alike in spirits.He emphasized expressing his particular emotions.The fourth chapter "The Artistic Achievement of Wen Tingyun's Poems", Wen Tingyun was one of the most important poets in late Tang Dynasty, his poems typically reflected the manners of in late Tang Dynasty. This chapter dissuss the poetry art of Wen Tingyun into two aspects. In the first, the styles of poems will be describled.We study many different styles in his poems and classify them into four main parts.In the second, artistic performance of Wen's poems will be studied. Artistic skills of his poems is exquisite. The color of his poems express personal character of art. Wen Tingyun is good at the structure of poem.His good qualities on the structure are typically on the information of the images. The fifth chapter "The Cultures in the South bank of Yangtze River and Wen Tingyun's poems", Wen Tingyun was born in the South bank of Yangtze River. There landscape affected him.When he was writing poem, this produced important influence. His poems has distinct features of nature and culture in the South bank of Yangtze River.The sixth chapter "Literary reception history of Wen Tingyun's poems" investigate the history of acceptance in the Chinese literary from late-Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. In his own times, his poems is popular around.compared to Li Shangyin, Wen is more influential. At the beginning of Song Dynasty, Wen's poems influence smaller and smaller. This chapter summarized literary phenomenon and rule in literary reception history of Wen Tingyun's poems.
