"taiping Era" Predict The Future "story Research

The subject of this paper:To investigate from the view of Typology a series of stories and culture with the Motiv of " precognition " in Taiping Guangji. Basing on the observations of the " precognition " stories in Taiping Guangji, the author points out the influences to Literati narrative and significances to culture caused by the "precognition" Motiv.There are five chapters in the paper:Chapter one, introduction, brings up several questions on the research project of the paper, and attempts to find answers to these questions. At the same time the introduction reviews the achievements associated with the project, and explains the basic research mentality and method as well as the aim and meaning. Chapter two, basing on the achievements stated in the introduction, consolidates the concepts and characteristics of the "precognition" stories referred to in the paper and brings forward the criteria for classifying the stories at a more detailed degree and also points out the problems in the stories. In addition, Chapter two also states the distributions of the "precognition" stories appear a number of times in Taiping Guangji and requests to set the scope of research objects. Chapter three is based on the classification criteria indicated in Chapter two and makes more specific classifications:1. According to the predicted contents to classify into3types-personnel destiny, collective destiny and natural destiny;2. According to the way of prediction to classify into6types-prophecy, omen, dream omen, divination, augury and geomantic omen;3. According to predicted results to classify into destiny realization and destiny changing. It grasps the individual meaning of the stories classified as above basing on their literature manifestations and narrative natures and then studies features of each classification. Chapter four mainly investigates how the "precognition" stories narrative structure was developed. Basing on the common narrative structure and narrative feature of individual story, it explores "precognition" Motiv's role played on Taiping Guangji which also assumes the characteristics of literati narrative. Chapter five discovers cultural implications basing on analyzing the literary significances of the "precognition" stories. It explores the cultural foundation via "precognition" and conscious structure existing in folk life, religion and idea, these cultural elements. At the end the author summarizes the main idea of the above-stated chapters. Furthermore, the author is regretful for the issues not yet solved in the paper and put them forward for future research.
