Separated only by a strip of water, Fujian and Taiwan are derived from the same origin, and have always been closely related, even during 1895 to 1945 when Taiwan was a Japanese colony. Both Fujian and Taiwan witnessed a series of changes and upheavals during the special historical period. However, Chinese painting artists of Fujian and Taiwan still kept close connection with each other, which was fully demonstrated by the inheritance, exchanges and inner interactions of Chinese painting between Fujian and Taiwan.Within the bounds of different standing and specific period, the inheritance, exchanges and interactions of Chinese painting were consciously or unconsciously conducted in various means by the individuals and groups of Fujian-Taiwan artists, which had proved its great importance in the dissemination of Fujian-Taiwan Chinese painting. Held at the historical transition to break new ground for the future the achievement that time gave an impetus to the spreading and development of Chinese painting art.From the perspective of the science of Fine Arts and Regional Social Culture, the article here investigates the inheritance, exchanges and interactions of Chinese painting between Fujian and Taiwan of Fujian-Taiwan Chinese painting from 1895 to 1945, and further presented a clear-cut analysis and summary of the Fujian-Taiwan painter-groups in mutual intercourse, whose different styles are put into comparison and analysis for revealing the inner affinitive relationship between them.The article also probes into the inheritance, interaction and transition of Fujian-Taiwan Chinese painting during the specific period in terms of inheriting relationship of art form. In review of the objective history, Fujian-Taiwan painters'efforts and contribution on mutual communication and inheritance of traditional culture are also unscrambled from the perspective of inheritance and protection of traditional symbols and its inheriting modes, to figure out the internal and external drivers for the changes, and search out the regional specialtyWith the in-depth study on the intercourse between Chinese painting artists of Fujian and Taiwan, and the interaction and inheritance of Chinese painting art and traditional cultures among them, it is expected that the affinitive relationship derived from the same origin between Fujian and Taiwan may bring about some beneficial implications for the present Fujian-Taiwan relationship and better understanding of Fujian-Taiwan culture, and the inheritance and development of Chinese culture.
