The Study On Handwriting Of The Chu Bamboo Slips In Warring States Period Collected By Shang Hai Museum

This thesis made a study on the phenomenon of handwriting in the Chu bamboo and silk, especially in the published contents of the Chu bamboo slips in Warring states period collected by Shang Hai Museum.There are two sections in the thesis, and the main contents are as followed. The first section has five chapters, in first chapter, we firstly introduced the study of handwriting of ancient Chinese characters. Secondly, we summarized the methods of study on handwriting of the bamboo and silk. Thirdly, we demonstrated the feasibility of using modern graphology principles to study handwriting of bamboo and silk in Warring States period.In the second chapter, we investigated the phenomenon of handwriting of bamboo and silk in Warring States period, firstly by writing tools such as writing brush, China ink and book knife, etc, in pre-Qin, Qin and Han period. Secondly by writing carrier such as oracle bones, bronze, bamboo slips, silk, and jade, etc. Thirdly by identities of writers, their social cultural levels, their ways to write, and the writing posture in pre-Qin, Qin and Han period.In the third chapter, we introduced the characteristic of handwriting such as characteristic of handwriting's overview, characteristic of word's lines, characteristic of word's form, characteristic of incorrectly written characters, characteristic of word's proportion, characteristic of pen movement, and characteristic of writing symbol, etc.In the forth chapter, we introduced the significance of the using of handwriting characteristics to study bamboo and silk in the Warring States period, which lies in the following points. We learned the textual research of regards, combined with bamboo slips. Meanwhile, we also explored the spread of pre-Qin literature and literacy of people in the pre-Qin period.There are35chapters in the second section, and we analyzed the characteristics of handwriting of every articles in the published contents of the Chu bamboo slips in Warring states period, which collected by Shang Hai Museum. And we had made thorough research of different classes based on their handwriting characteristics.There are four appendices attached at the end of the thesis, the table of preserved titles in all articles in Shang Hai Museum slips, the table of characteristic of writing symbol in each slips in Shang Hai Museum slips, the table of the characteristic of handwriting in each slips in Shang Hai Museum slips, the table of shapes of each slips in Shang Hai Museum slips.
