Taoism is the only religion locally born and bred in China. In Tang Dy-nasty is hold up as national religion and produced a great influence on poem.The cardinal principle of Taoism is to make people immortal throughdifferent kinds austere prectices. This romatic thought is accepted by Tangpoets, who depict a lot in their poems.Different Taoism schools show different influences on poems, which thepresent author of this dissertation give detailed analysis.Famous mountains are believed as the ideal place for practicing austeri-ty, which is also accepted by Tang poets.Many Taoist priests are ports. They write as many as poems. The factthat Tang poets contact closely with Taoist priests also has great influenceon the development of poetry.JiangSu and ZheJiang Province are the cradle of Taoism. The atmo-sphere in theretwo provinces exert influnece on local poets, poets who areofficials there and poets who travel there.
