Wu Yun, the author of these poems, is the best poet among those who write suites of poems on history in Tang Dynasty. Limited by the scarcity of the references available, we do not know much about the deeds in all the lives of Hu and Zhou, nor do we know about those very clearly. Therefore the author first finds out the references concerned and make textual researches into the origin and the notes-taken version of Poems on History. Then the author discusses Poems on History''?, influence to the creation in the historic scripts in Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty and the historic novels in Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. Apart from that, the author expounds the relationship between Hu and Zhou's Poems on History and the ancient study of formative education (Mengxue). These aspects were neither often expounded nor completely discussed in the past.Chap.6 and 7 first make textual researches into the deeds in all the lives of Wang Zun and Sun Xuan-yan and work out some fruits. Then the author analyzes the features of creation and the artistic levels of Jueju (a traditional type of Chinese poetry) on history.Chap.8 ascertains and classifies the suites of poems on history written by poets in Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties. Many of these suites of poems have been lost as the time going by. By doing this we can partly see that writing large-size suites of poems was a common practice among the poets of that time.Chap.9 expounds additionally the suites of poems in versifying Confucian classics and philosophical writings and miscellaneous works influenced by the suites of poems in versifying history.
