Ceremony Pedigree: A Vision, Literary Anthropology

As the discipline, both cultural anthropology and comparative literature make the comparisons upon at least two nations' cultures. It was a close relationship between the two subjects from vary beginning as the methodology, for instance, as we know two methods of comparative literature, parallel study and influent study, are all based on it. However, the integrative studies' "pearance, ?the literary anthropology approach" or "the anthropological study on literature" seem apparently late. One of academic reasons of the raise on literary anthropology comes from the reflection of academic moral principles, that is so-called the "West- Center" value system, in other wards, the simplest catalogue of divisions based on which is "myself/others"梐 divisional principle under the social power. Such a value system is not only full with "imagined," but the figure with the historical "making" factor, or "making history", they are expressed mainly as follows: first of all, although the western literatures share with their own frontier concept of given countries, for instance, France literature, British literature, while facing to the "other cultures", they seem the same thing: some quality, some unit, that is the narrative of "civilization" or superior Nation to "barbarian". Secondly, as one part of comparative literature, the literary narrative exists the elements of the shadow of power, actually, it is an express of paradigm with the perspective from the very beginning of this research field, more ever, the development and achievement of comparative literature satisfied with the interpretation at the historical metaphor by themselves. In other wards, between the comparison of "western literature" and "other culture", the literary narrative coming from "superior nations" has an advantage: one hand, make an interpretation for themselves, on the other hand, defiled "the others".The major focus of my doctoral thesis is put on the western canon "Dionysus Ritual" and its original meanings covered drama, arts, poem, religion, magic and so on with the literary anthropological perspective. As we know, the ritual is often taken as "the traditional container", which means ritual has a very special capable to contain the ethnic, historical and traditional interpretative ability for itself as well as multicultural, multiethnic exchange events and "facts". In this case, Dionysus pattern is a typical example, many aspects showed that there existed a very complicated relations among the arche-type: the origin of the western tragedy, the exhibition of relation between man, nature and culture, theexpression of literary themes etc. Main purpose of this research will be concentrated on the combination of the Dionysus ritual pattern and analyses relative eastern factors including historical texts, the drama literature using the method of literary anthropology. In order to do anthropological "field work", author once had a trip investigation in Greece to collect what the research needs, archaeological data, ancient Greek theatre sites, ecological environments, local oral texts etc.Six chapters are contained in the thesis, they are: the introduction and comment on anthropological ritual theories, the interpretation of liteis^. anthropological approach on ritual pattern, the relation between culture and natural ecology, Dionysus' pedigree and genealogy, the aesthetical principle of Dionysus pattern and the narrative on literary arche-types from Dionysus. The research try to prove "Apollonian/Dionysian pattern" is not only a philosophical topic, but also exhibite many historical events and facts in which appeared a trend of change from East to West, the political "Discourse" must based on the historical development "Course", the narrative of West-center discourse, or "myself narrative", in the same way, based on the "others narrative". Because of the force from traditional imperialism and modem "nation-state", the social value narrative become full with "figure imagined" and "history made", it created a Western mode of knowledge system...
