Beginning with the word-nature,first used by Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi and with a meaning typical of Chinese thinking dimension, the writer will discuss its relation with the thinking dimension of the Chinese ancient sages. I think that "nature" serves as a symbolic word in Chinese cultural context, indicating a distinctive route along which we can look for a particular cognitive method and this method originally decides an attitudes towards the relationship between man and nature-that is the unity of subject and object resulting from the 'nature-being-so' ,'subject-absence' and mergence of man and nature. Once achieving the suspension of one' s individualized mipd ,in terms of the poetical expression ,he / she will gain access to a kind of co-presence of nature -and-man which could be called an weakened -hearted objective writing away from which " the finished heart" is kept. This so-called weakened-hearted objective writing contrasts sharply with the Western rational-poetics which dreams of a writing imbued with "passion and emotion" .This dissertation consists of two parts:the introduction and the detailed discussions. Part one points out the difference of the word -nature in meaning in Chinese and the West cultural context through doing textual research of the three crucial terms:Zi,Ran,Nature-being-so which run through the following parts explicitly and implicitly. Secondly, starting from discussing the meaning of "nature-being-so" and how an objectless thinking is made possible,I think that Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi are conscious of the fact that one should reduce his pre-formed self and pre-formed knowledge ,cherishing an desire without objects and "1" without objectification,so as to let things be as what they are. Being so,one can achieve a parity between nature and man and ensure a nature-being-so' state in which he/ she "encounters nature without pre-knowledge" and "accept all those that come into his/her eyes without discrimination. This is a co-presence of man and nature and in this state man and nature are made friends to each other. In this paper,I comprehensively dwell on the "deconstruction" of the way that the ancient sages think of "nature" ,so I am focussed upon the "background" of the finished Chinese poetic configuration and quality. This view is based upon suc a fact that the "finished culture" ,"poetic pattern" and the accepted poetic Jing Jie ,the ei mergence of self and surroundings characterized by "nothingness- is- appearance" and " appearance- is-nothingness" ,could be viewed as an embodiment of Lao-Zhuang' thinking mode. Roughly speaking,in the introduction ,the survey of the meaning of nature in the Western context is made just as a precondition and serves as a point of referenceThe main body of the dissertation are the detailed discussions, which are composed of four parts:the first one deals with the generation of the meaning of the word-nature in cultural context and expression system ,ranging from Zi and Ran through to ZiRan ErRan Semiotically speaking,in Chinese context,ZiRan,as a word, seems to have stayed away from the natural world to which it is supposed to refer at the very beginning. And it neither becomes the object for man to know nor for man to conquer . Conversely it is converted to be a rule for man himself to follow and comply with. The second one deals with "the question-suspension" attitude adopted by ancient sages by way of "ntte-being-so" . In such a state ,man and nature,I and You enjoy a relationshipof entersubjectivity-I- in- You and You- in-I .Concretely stating,l)in an idealistic state,"Me" must be merged into "wholeness" or "Dao" so as to dwell in the world;2)In terms of constitution -relationship,either man or nature is merely functional. And what is most important is that how man properly dwindles his pre-view so as to realize his dialogue with nature;3) Since "I am natural as nature is" ," things will show themselves out of their own nature." Then the speaking of nature means the speaking of a weakened subject, that is to say, things are as wh...
