A Study Of The Yao's Taoism And Its Relation With The Yao Nationality In Yunnan

Utilizing a good deal of firsthand fieldwork data, this doctoral dissertation focus around the religion of the Yao in Yunnan, and make a systematic in-depth research about it to probe into connotation of the Yao's Taoism and its relation with the Yao's culture in Yunnan. This thsis may promote the study of the culture of the Yao nationality, but also may be a good supplement to the research of Taoism.This dissertation is composed of five chapters. Chapter one comments on the research situation of the Yao's religion and brief account of research item making, source of data, and train of thought etc.. Chapter two chiefly studies main characteristics of the Yao's Taoism and its nationalization. Chapter three discusses the relation between the Yao's Yaoism and the factors of the primitive religion which exist in the Yao's Taoism, and points out all these factors belong to the Yao's Taoism. Chapter four notes that the Yao's Taoism becomes the cultural core of the Yao in Yunnan after discusses their relation between the Yao's Taoism and other main cultural factors of the Yao's social-cultural system. Chapter five systematically sums up the main ways of the nationization of Taoism and the Taoismization of the Yao nationality, and makes a conclusion in theory about the causes of the Taoismization.
