The peak of his power is just in the several years after Qinshihuang's ascendance of the throne, when the young king was not able to control the kingdom, and the compilation of was just during this period and was finished in BC241. was the unique book before Qin Dynasty which was structurally designed in advance and completed at one time. Thus it had a well-infinited texture including three parts. The first part is named Ji, set forth the principal of an ideal king. The second is Lan, which means to look back and research the historical events and all kinds of knowledge. The third is Lun, which is made of the reminded of the materials of the compilation of the proceeding parts. Though it is a mixture with all its carelessness and ignorance, it still preserved a plenty of rare record of ancient cultural and history as well as Ji and Lan.The book we can read today has some missing and errors after the long period of 2200 years, but it still can be regarded as the most completely preserved book of the ancient age. But this book was sequently forgot until Qin Dynasty because of the rumors and moral critical about Lu Buwei. It is very necessary to rediscover and research its thought, historical theory and scholarship, for it should not deserve this long period of ignorance, especially to us who is interested in the ancient cultural and history.
