Chapter one. On the literary stage of the end of this century, with the decomposition of the main social ideology and the radical change of cultural environment, the fiction creation confronts a new choice in the existing state of 'borderline-way'. The theory and criticism of fiction is being subjected to severe tests of paradigm change or paradigm exchange. This paper attempts to return to the fiction ontology, probe into its existing form, and reflect on the genre style of modern Chinese fiction for the purpose of finding the proper starting point for the fiction criticism.Chapter two. In the research field of modern Chinese literature, the writing of fiction history and its relevant research activities always exist in an awkward existing state of 'born weak'. For example, the structure of historical statement is the exact copy of so called 'the history of new democratic revolution', the narrative discourse of history works is the subconscious follower of the main social ideology, and fiction criticism constantly neglects the historical philosophy and methodology, etc. These problems have extensively affected the rewriting and review of modern Chinese literature at the end of this century. This paper attempts to return to history ontology, reflects on the success and failure of the research of modern Chinese fiction history, probes into the problems and solutions of historical statement, and at last puts forward diachronic rule of the writing of modern Chinese fiction history and its relevant research. Chapter three. In this literature-awaken age, a large number of new literary ideas and literary schools were born. Fiction criticism and fiction creation retained a synchronic existing way of prosperity and decline. With an existing state of'borderline-way', the literary stage of the end of this century abounds with critical discourse and writing gesture, and this undoubtedly reveals that fiction criticism is confronting the crisis of 'paradigm change'. From the standpoint of theoretical criticism, we can find that this crisis provides a historical chance for the appearance of new criticism paradigm. This paper attempts to return to criticism ontology, and summarize the experiences and lessons of fiction criticism in the last century. Based on it, this paper puts forward a theoretical system of meta-criticism, and documents its theory ideas, logical structure and implementing methods.
