Study On The Fiction Narrative Criticism In China Since The 1990s'

At the end of the 1970s', the reform and opening to the outside world in china has brought the national ideological liberation movement, and in the fields of Chinese literary criticism it is prominent that many western criticism theories are introduced nearly at the same time. By the opening of academic fields, the modernization process of the literary criticism in China is promoted powerfully. And the direct theoretical origin of the fiction narrative criticism, in China today, is the western narratology as an important category of the western criticism theories. But facing the western narrative criticism theory which comes from the foreign land, Chinese scholars who are in the different social cultural linguistic environment is impossible to imitate it completely in the process of its acceptance and utilization and it definitely will have some changes in a degree. This manifests the narrative 1 criticism localization process from the West to China.The narrative criticism in the west is a kind of text criticism that is influenced by the structuralistic ideological trend. It profits from the linguistics pattern and advocates that the literary narrative work should be rationally analyzed under the scientific and objective attitude. The aim of the narrative criticism in the West is not to explain the significance of the concrete literary work, but find out the universally structural rules underlying the text. Its chief feature is to carry on the pure formal analysis for the narrative text. When it brings a set of technical analyzing operation sequence of narrative text, it is also showing its own serious limitation, namely: Cut off the relationship of the literary work and its external contacting, such as the author who created it, the readers who accept it and the linguistic environment of the society, the history and the culture. Just because of this, it is questioned broadly for the criticism validity to literary text existing as an artistic shape. From the intermediate stages of the 1980s', on the basis of learning from the narrative theory in the West, the fiction narrative criticism in China begins to open the advance prolog. Since the 1990s', the quantity and quality of the fiction narrative criticism have been improving greatly and it has entered into a prosperous stable period of development. By study of massive concrete fiction narrative criticism texts since the 1990s' in China , we can discover that the fiction narrative criticism in this period is different with the western narrative criticism and has been showing its own characteristics : The first, along with the introduction, the digestion and absorption to the western narrative theories in a certain time in the theoretical study, the majority of fiction narrative criticism texts in China since the 1990s' is already able to do the quite effective technical analysis to the concrete fiction narrative texts skillfully by using the western classical narrative theories and realized the space expansion of the study and the explanation on the fiction narrative text .The second, the fiction narrative criticism broke through the pure formal analysis by connecting the multi-dimensions of society, history ,culture , the ideology and the writing psychology of the author ,and the reason of forming the characteristics is the influences of rethinking acceptation facing the western narrative theories in Chinese academic study, Chinese literary criticism tradition emphasizing the significance explanation as well as the multiplex western theory words and the cultural research trend .The third, the other characteristic of the criticism operation is to attempt to combine the western narratology and Chinese traditional narrative theory in the narrative text analysis under the Chinese scholar's intense native consciousness of constructing the native narratology of China which is becoming greater and greater day by day. Certainly, in this period ,the fiction narrative criticism of China still have some weakness and problems, such as the weakness of the theoretical innovation ability on the text narrative structure study, the combination of the narrative theories in China and the narratology in the West is very immature. Through the study of the Chinese narrative criticism in this period, we can have a clearer understanding of the criticism localization advancement from the West to China, and this is helpful for us to find the direction of later advancement.
