Interrogative sentences with "ne (呢)" are distinguished from other interrogative sentences because of the word of mood ?"ne (呢)". This type of interrogative sentences includes special questions, alternative questions and yes-no questions. And the elliptical interrogative sentences with . "ne (呢)" derived from special, alternative and yes-no questions are also included. Guided by the theories of clausal pivot and clausal government and directed by the triangle of "form - meaning -value" and the triangle of "Putonghua - Chinese dialects -- ancient Chinese" in language study we have made a research on the interrogative sentences with "ne (呢)" in Chinese. The paper is divided into the following eight parts.Part one is an introduction to the paper. In this part some relevant researches are introduced, and the method of study, scope of study and main issues of the paper are made clear. 'In part two, the constraint of the structure of "NP ne (呢)? A" on NP has been studied. "NP ne (呢)? A" is the elliptical form of "NP zai na/nali(ne) (NP 在哪/哪里)? (Where is NP?)", but all NPs can not be used freely in the structure. And in this part the constraint on and choice of personal pronouns, locatives, numerals and classifiers of the structure are also analyzed. In part three, three sub-categories of another elliptical interrogative sentences with "ne (11)"-?"VP0 ne (呢)?" are discussed. They are hypothetical "VP0 ne ((呢)?", inquiring "VP0 ne (呢)?" and demanding "VP0 ne (呢)?". Meanwhile, these three types of sentences are compared with one another and some features about them are discovered.According to traditional studies, "ne ((呢)" can only be used at the sentence-final of a non-yes-no question. In part four the yes-no question with "ne (呢)" is discussed, and meanwhile the yes-no question with "ne (呢)" and the non-yes-no question with "ne ((呢)" are compared. The yes-no question with "ne (呢)" is often composed of Pred. + O. structure and used to inquire about what happens continuously. This .type of questions can be divided into true and pseudo questions, and the latter can be further divided into rhetorical questions and phatic questions. In part five some internal and external changes, which have resulted from omission, of the elliptical interrogative sentences with "ne (呢)" are discussed. Internally, "ne ((呢)" in the question is a necessity, and in the process of simplification "ne ((呢)" must be added if the original question is without "ne ((呢)". Externally, some "vacancies" may appear because of the simplification. Theremaining elements and the "vacancies" is closely related to the external corresponding sentence. In part six three preconditions of rhetorical questions are discussed, which are the context, the marker of rhetorical questions, and special words in special sentence patterns. Some sentence patterns, which are also markers of rhetorical questions, can form rhetorical questions. "Ne (呢)" itself cannot express the mood of a rhetorical question. In part seven some interrogative elements are studied in the perspective of "Putonghua - Chinese dialects -- ancient Chinese".In part eight the role of "ne (呢)" in the interrogative system of modern Chinese is discussed. Meanwhile, from the angle of clause-linking the origin of the elliptical interrogative sentences with "ne (呢)" is also studied. Clause-linking is the basis of the evolving of the elliptical interrogative sentences with "ne (呢)", on the other hand the ellipsis can reinforce the linking. Finally some further thinking about the study is expounded.
