Chu Text Component Systems Analysis And Shanghai Museum Chu Bamboo Book (a) "text Dynasty

The study of the characters of Kingdom Chu during the Warring States Period is now a popular topic in the academic circles, which is pushed forward by the publishing of Shanghai Museum's Bamboo Volume I. Some achievements have grown in this field. But it is limited to study every single character and the conclusion of this kind may lead to arguments. The problem is just the subject of this article. The method is to collect all the materials of the characters of Kingdom Chu during the Warring States Period and set up a data base. Then the system of the characters of Kingdom Chu can be investigated and analyzed thoroughly by the aid of the function of data bases. In this way, the features of the characters of Kingdom Chu can be induced. This approach is just the method of computational linguistics. By this means, a digital platform is set up and the characters of Kingdom Chu can be furthered on this platform by referring to the documents handed down from ancient times.The article includes two parts. Part One is the analysis on the components of the characters of Kingdom Chu. And this part includes four chapters. Chapter I is the investigation and arrangement of every single character of Kingdom Chu. 4116 characters are sorted out from the unearthed materials published before December, 2002. Among these characters, 3354 have been explained by the experts and the explanations are believable. 762 characters haven't been explained. Accordingly, these 3354 characters which have been explained can be used as the basic materials to further the study of the characters of Kingdom Chu. And these 3354 characters are shown in this chapter. Chapter II is the investigation of the components of the characters of Kingdom Chu. 1052 components appear when the 3354 characters are taken apart according to the reason they are formed. There are 832 components used as sonic symbols of Xing Sheng Characters, 214 components used as the meaning symbols and 358 components used as the meaning symbols of Hui Yi Characters. There are 72 components used as pictograph, but they have 209 different forms. What's more, there are 23 components which have no meanings in characters, but they are used to decorate the characters. Chapter III is the study of the position of every component. Among all the components, 739 appear on the upper or the bottom of characters, 611 appear on the left or right sides and 301 components are surrounded by other components. Chapter IV is the study of 23 components used todecorate the characters. These components may make the characters well-proportioned and well-balanced.Part Two is the textual research on Shanghai Museum's Bamboo Volume I with the help of the platform set up in Part One. More than 90 characters are observed and discussed in this part. This part includes three chapters. Chapter I is the textual research on Kong Zi Shi Lun. Chapter II is the textual research on Zi Yi. And Chapter III is the textual research on Xing Qing Lun.
