China and Korea have a long history of cultural exchange for several thousands of years. During the long-term exchange, two countries have the Chinese characters and the Confucianism culture in common. They spread each other, influenced each other and learned from other's strong points to offset own weakness, and thus developed their culture respectively. During the endless development of ancient history, the influence of Chinese culture on Korea is great. The development of Korean history and culture is connected with the influence of Chinese culture. But we can't ignore the influence of Korean culture on China. In ancient Korean, culture was introduced to China in a steady stream by way of ambassadorial come-and-go, material exchange, population removal and impacted and advanced the development of Chinese culture. In the 18th century, the exchange between China and Korea was conducted under the diplomatic system of a typical pay tribute. Because both China and Korea put the vigorous introverted policy into practice, so annually periodic and aperiodic come-and-go of ambassadorial regiment was the unique approach of two countries' cultural exchange. Besides fulfilling political, economic, diplomatic tasks, the diplomatic envoys of two countries also functioned as the medium of cultural exchange. In the 18th century, China was in the KangYongQian prosperous era, with the national unification, political stabilization, economic boom and cultural prosperity, which offered the Korean diplomatic envoys a relatively loose, free and fair condition for their cultural and communicational activities. Therefore the Korean ambassadorial regiment contributed greatly to two countries' cultural exchange. The emergence of numerous works to China was just the best proof. On the contrary in Korea, because there was serious idea of "respecting the Han, rejecting other nationalities" and "respecting the Ming dynasty, rejecting the Qing dynasty " in thegovernment and public, resulted in watching out for the communication with the diplomatic envoys of Qing dynasty. In addition to this, most diplomatic envoys to Korea were military officers, paying little attention to cultural exchange. So the diplomatic envoys of Qing dynasty didn't stand out in the cultural exchange between two countries. In the 18th century, the main approach of materially cultural exchange between China and Korea was ambassadorial commerce of pay tribute. It included three types: firstly Korea periodically sent diplomatic envoys annually to give the material to the Qing dynasty and Chinese emperor accordingly vouchsafed material in return; secondly the material exchanged via the behind market of the fence gate and the behind market of Huitong embassy; thirdly China and Korea marketed mutually at the place like Zhongjiang, Qingyuan,Huining in the northern frontier of Korea. The two countries helped supply each other's need, which stimulated the development of industry and commerce of two countries and enriched and developed material culture respectively.Books exchange was an important content in cultural exchange between China and Korea in the 18th century. The following three channels realized it: Chinese emperor's granted letters, Korean diplomatic envoy organization members' script and presented books by intellectuals between China and Korea. During that period, books exchanged between two countries included not only Classical Confucian texts, literary, historical books but also technical books like chronometric, calendar, medical books etc. After Korean intellectuals and scholars followed the diplomatic envoy organization to China in the 18th century, they contacted Chinese intellectuals and scholars extensively. They communicated honestly in political, economic, cultural, technological fields etc. through conversation by writing communication and letter contact. They formed profound international friendship and made great contribution to thefurther development of cultural exchangebetween China and Korea. The candid and honest communica...
