A Compendium Of The Contemporary Perspective On The Study Of Ci In Tang And Song Dynasties

China has undergone drastic transformation in the contemporary period (from 1978 to the present) when the evolution of cultural modes have resulted in a series of changes in concepts, methodology and research discourses for the contemporary study of Ci in Tang and Song dynasties. The three reforms in concepts, trend of thought and methodology on the part of the study of literature and its law of development have made great impacts on it: from cultural enlightenment to subjectology, from methodology to ontology criticism and from cultural perspective to classicism. The contemporary study of Ci in Tang and Song dynasties , with great development in more than twenty years, has formed its specific pattern, whose achievements are acknowledged by the world and are manifested in such areas as diversified trends of thought, varied methods and discourse. The flourishing of the study of Ci is not by accident, but due to the drastic changes in the cultural modes.In the 1980's the study of Ci in Tang and Song dynasties started against the rise of modern thoughts and popularity of classicism methodology brought about the boom of macrostudy and promoted the birth of varied study. The first group of researchers in the contemporary period established themselves in academic field and demonstrated their specific features, In the 1990's the evolution of cultural modes led to creative discourses and unparalleled cultural criticism brought forth a few research modes. What ordinary researchers followed was the several perspectives on the same issue. In the meantime this period cultivated researchers of new generation born in the 1960's. Their brave, creative and energetic character enabled themselves to be outstanding figures in this field. Based on this, the study of Ci in Tang and Song dynasties shall continue to develop and proceed in three directions in the new century.
