Network Literature Study

Grows up in the end of 20 centuries, WWW (World Wide Web) sweeps the world like a giant. We must agree that WWW has already changed our life, both of the body and mind. Network computer has already been parts of our culture. It deeply affects not only our living but also our ideology. Just like the Cyber-literature, it takes part in the history of our human writing; it also becomes an indicator of the integration of human literature, science and technology. Cyber-literature is not the simple transplantation of text from page to screen but an innovative technology, which is fragmentary, interconnected, nonlinear and multidirectional. It provides an environment of incomparable textual malleability and further fulfills many deconstructive hypotheses about text.Network is virtual, may be a little bit different from our real life. Somebody may think Network is a carrier, the other think it is a media. What is the difference between these ideas? How does it work on Cyber-literature? Cyber-literature must base on network and must be in concert with Hypertext, assisted with video, audio and interaction.This thesis is divided into six chapters. The first chapter introduces the definition and the evolvement of Cyber-literature. The second, third and fourth chapters concentrate upon the websites, the situation and specialties of Cyber-literature and traditional Literature. In the final chapter, the teaching and the future of Cyber-Literature studies are discussed.
