In combination with technology and art cyber literature is a new literary genre which emerged from the context of cyber technology and popular culture. The changes in literature certainly will ensue from the transformation into Internet as the brand-new literary medium. Based on the four different dimensions, namely: aesthetic scope, aesthetic mode, aesthetic creation, aesthetics acceptance, this thesis tries to make a systematic survey of the aesthetic impact of Internet on literature, and to reveal the difference between cyber literature and traditional literature, as well as the characteristics and laws embodied in cyber literature. As far as aesthetic scope is concerned, the roles of giver and recipient have varied in cyber literature, and the sphere of expression has been greatly expanded. In light of aesthetic mode, cyber literature has three characteristics as follows: (1) the pleasant aesthetic of free writing; (2) the vicarious aesthetic of virtual world; (3) the dynamic aesthetic of interactive reading and writing. Viewed from the angle of aesthetic creation, cyber literature not only provides many diverse means of literary expression like multimedia presentation and hypertext links, but also it builds up a platform for creative writing, so that anyone can enjoy the freedom in this cyber space of literature. Considering the aesthetics acceptance, the screen reading can give people an immersed psychological experience, and the Internet can achieve the receiving mode of person-computer or interpersonal interaction.Cyber literature has subverted the norms and rules deeply rooted in the traditional literature, meanwhile, the subversion also involves new opportunities. So after an in-depth aesthetic inquiry about cyber literature, this thesis also proposes the prospects of its future development.
