At the present day in the twenty-first century ,it seems that China and Russia seldom contact in literature .But the relations between 1949-1966 Chinese literature and Russian-Soviet literature were very close. The Chinese literature creation, theory, and criticism were under the great influence from Russia and Soviet Union. The present thesis will try to sift the relations between Russian-Soviet literature and 1949-1966 Chinese literature compendiously. In the history of 1949-1966 Chinese literature, we Chinese translated a great amount of Russian-Soviet theory of literature and art, including the Soviet socialist realistic theory, Marxist theory of literature and art, the literature and art theory of Russian revolutionary democrat in the nineteenth century. We Chinese embraced and propagated Marxism through both Russia and Soviet Union, so the Marxist theory of literature and art is discussed in this paper.Literary works translated can be grouped two heads: That is the classical Russian literature, especially the realistic works of the nineteenth century and the Soviet works. The new sort of socialist literature, which with the characteristics of collectivism, patriotism and heroic spirit, has a strong appeal to the Chinese readers.Under the influence of Russian-Soviet literature theory, the Chinese scholars and authors gave explanation of socialist realism. The point in the serial literary criticism and controversy is in relation to realism. There were several topics of general interest, such as the relation between truth and essence; truth and type; the Party spirit and folk character, etc. These subjects were hotly debated among Chinese scholars and authors for a long time.Chinese authors, especially those who began to show their brilliant talents in literary creation in 1950s were influenced by Russian-Soviet literature. The influences were mainly manifested in Chinese poetry and novel writing. After the death of Stalin, Soviet literature came into the period of Unfreeze. Under the influence of Soviet literature, the ChineseBaiHua literature appeared at the turn of 1956-1957. Two themes in the works were mainly manifested in the two literature trend, exposing social contradiction and singing praises of humanism. The literary works is of great value in the literary history. The methods of intermediaries and influence study in comparative literature are used in the present thesis. The focus of this academic paper is realism. The relations between the Soviet and Chinese literature at the same term are being examined closely. The greatness of achievements in Chinese and Soviet literature is obvious. But owing to the feature of socialist realism, the ideal and so-called essence were emphasized in literary creation, therefore the socialist realism deviated from the realism in the real sense. Chinese new method in literary creation named "combine revolutionary realism with romanticism" came into being in 1958. The romanticism and ideals were placed even more stress in the "combination", so lots of false literary works came out since then.As to the achievements in literary creation in the same term, Chinese literature cannot equal to Soviet literature.
