Rewards and penalties are the usual ruling ways, which the former are used to lead to good deeds, the latter are used to lead to punishing the evils, and they supplement and complement each other. We are impossible to know the society completely and accurately if do not understand the system of a period of time. Reward system is a very important part in the Qing Dynasty's political system, which goes through the Dynasty and almost involves all the social estates. The every important historic affair accompanies with the large-scale reward measures in the Qing Dynasty. So we can say that reward system is the miniature of the history of the Qing Dynasty. But domestic and international scholars only involve some aspects of reward system in their thesis and books on the system of the Qing Dynasty. And the most thesis and books limited to the research on some aspects, the systematic research work didn't appear until this dissertation is finished which try to make up for the default to a large extent in the research field of the Qing Dynasty's history.The authors try to tidy the reward system of the Qing Dynasty up applying the some theories and method in history, sociology, psychology, statistics etc basing on large variety of documentaries and the private sketchbooks discuss the effect of reward in vindicating the political regime, Confucian ethical code and social tendency and think of it as a special perspective to explain the society of the Qing Dynasty.The dissertation is divided into three parts totally which includes eight chapters:Part I is the introduction of the dissertation expatiating the choice base of this research, the topic's academic and realistic significance and the research result concerning reward system of the Qing Dynasty.Part II is the maim part of demonstration of the Qing Dynasty's reward system, which include six aspects .the author try to trace back to the systems' historical source, make the comparison between the Qing Dynasty and the former dynasties, examine the implant of the reward system and analyze it briefly.The last part is the conclusion of this thesis that induces the important issues on reward system of the Qing Dynasty. The issues include the significant traits, the main effects and the fatal weaknesses of the reward system of the Qing Dynasty.Reward system of the Qing Dynasty plays a very important role in vindicating the political regime, Confucian ethical code and social tendency. But we also should notice that the system is only the ways of temper justice with mercy although the Qing Court cost many a money and material resources .And since the middle of the Emperor Qianlong, in the process of carrying out the reward more and more dishonest factors appeared for instance eager for quick success and instant benefit, fish for fame and compliments > excessive reward, corruption and extortion phenomena in the course of reward. Particularly in the late period of the the Qing Dynasty more and more reward were bestowed for the sake of cultivating popularity to make use of the award for merit means on a large scale because of much urgent pressure so that people don't pay much more attention to the reward and honor as before. As a result reward system loses gradually the conduct and actions maintenance rules of the Dynasty. All these manifest that prospering phenomenon conceals-the problems on the systems. Although it is not a comedown to reward measures cause settle the Dynasty, at least from expose an evidence of a series of downfall .In short, we shouldn't regard of reward measures as panacea and think of it a unique means of encouragement, this is the initial term of reward can produce result well or not.
