Zhong Xing Comment Study

This paper is aimed at the punctuation and annotation by Zhong Xing and to gives an example for the research of China archaic punctuation and annotation under the surroundings of the late Ming dynasty by Zhong Xing's books and the previously research.The paper includes five parts. The part one includes two sects. One is on all Zhong Xing's life and his work's style. Zhong Xing's all life is connected with this style that represented his literature criticism theory. The other is on the history of the research on Zhong Xing. The research on Zhong Xing began with the late Ming dynasty when Zhong Xing and his Jing Ling group have produced important effect while Zhong Xing was disregarded during Qing dynasty. From 20 century to now, Zhong Xing and his Jingling group become the hot spot of researches. The part two is on the Zhong Xing's books of punctuation and annotation under the late Ming dynast. Punctuation and annotation is special method in China that is very important in Ming dynasty. Zhong Xing is a very excellent critic on punctuation and annotation. The part three is on Shigui that is the representative work of Zhong Xing's punctuation and annotation. Shigui expresses Zhong Xing's idea that we should pay attention to the nature feeling and learn from the past, and reflects Zhong Xing's whole poem theory. The part four is on Zhong Xing's other books that include the punctuation and annotation on The Book of Songs, the selected works with punctuation and annotation on Su Shi's prose and etc. These books have some new ideas that embody the other theory of Zhong Xing on punctuation and annotation. The part five is on the books that inscribed Zhong Xing's name. Because Zhong Xing was very famous in late Ming dynasty, many books that inscribed Zhong Xing's name came out. Now we cannot judge if these books is really written by Zhong Xing, but we should attach importance to them and take them as a part of research on Zhong Xing's punctuation and annotation.Although some of them are not very important, we have to acknowledge that Zhong Xing has referred to some worthy theory in his works on punctuation and annotation. Therefore Zhong Xing's punctuation and annotation should be provided with a corresponding position.
