The development of Chinese calligraphy is not the result of the logic of itself, and the birth of styles is not the product of the so-called theory of "art for art's sake". The development and the styles of Chinese calligraphy depend on both art itself and some other reasons which are not about art----non-art factors. So that we can say the history of Chinese calligraphy should not be treated as the history of calligraphers or calligraphic works. When we study the history of the development of Chinese calligraphy we must put calligraphy into certain historical surroundings to analyze or to prove, but should not circle our study in calligraphy art itself. The establishment and development of every art is on the basis of the paradigm of art, and the coming into being, establishment and transform of the paradigm of art is the best way to reflect the situation of the development of art. Through studying the function of the non-art factors on the birth, establishment and transform of the paradigm of art, this thesis makes a systematic exposition on the non-art factors'influence on the development of calligraphy, so that to supply some theoretic basis and methodological supports to the comprehensive and trans-field study of Chinese calligraphy.
