Yu Si She is one of the most important organizations in modern Chinese literary history. From late 1924 to early 1930, a large number of scholars and writers came together around Yu Si Weekly. Some of them are well-known giants of the May Four period, such as Lu Xun and Zhou Zuo-ren. Other important participants include Qian Xuan-tong, Lin Yu-tang, Liu Ban-nong, Sun Fu-yuan, Zhang Chuan-dao, Li Xiao-feng, Jiang Shao-yuan, Gu Jie-gang, Fei Ming, Yu Ping-bo, etc. Firmly advocating civilization criticism and social criticism, Yu Si She is in essence carrying on the spirit of New Youth in fighting against decayed thinking, culture and ethics as well as flagellating the evil and dark society. In all aspects of thoughts, culture and politics, Yu Si She has engaged numerous fierce wars with old and new reactionary forces. As far as its personnel are concerned, it is closely related with Xin Chao She. Though never attending the parties held in Peking, yet Lu Xun is still undoubtedly the major backbone due to his great appealing power and numerous articles published on Yu Si Weekly. During this period, the soul of Yu Si She, Lu Xun and Zhou Zuo-ren, though at odds with each other, forged a temporary common battle line to fight abreast.In the middle and late 1920s, some other literary organizations, such as Mang Yuan She, Wei Ming She and Kuang Biao She, also exerted much influence upon modern Chinese literature. As the soul and idol of Mang Yuan She and Wei Ming She, Lu Xun plays an important role in shaping the concepts of life, art and thoughts of the other members. Increasingly discontent with the "sapless" and the "gray" of Yu Si She, Lu Xun established Mang Yuan She with some young writers in hopes of strengthening the power daring to challenge the dark society. The primary purpose of founding Wei Ming She is to introduce and publish foreign works. Kuang Biao She is a group of young writers centering around Gao Chao Hong. As an important figure and editor in Mang Yuan She, Gao got much praise.and help from Lu Xun. With the later leaving Peking for shanghai, a fierce conflict arose in Mang Yuan She between Kuang Biao She Writer Groups and An Hui Writers Group.
