There is no other historical schools can compare with the Rankean historiography. That's to say, the Rankean historiography is incomparable in the Western historiography. In this dissertation, the author tried to comprehensively and systematically study the internal structure of the historiography deeply. In the author's opinion, there are three facets in the internal structure of the Rankean historiography, which are "what's really happened", "the finger of the God" and the political historiography. The author wanted to elucidate the relationships among the three facets of the Rankean historiography. With those, the author would display the panorama of the Rankean historiography, illustrate its essential, and unfold its insufficiency and limitations. The author hoped the depiction would be helpful to understanding the true essence of the Rankean historiography and its relationship to Western modern historiography.There are seven parts in this dissertation including the introduction, five chapters and the conclusion.In the introduction, the author explained the situations of the external and internal research on the Rankean historiography, then displayed the importantce of the research on the Rankean historiography, and showed the author's purports, so discusssed what's composed of the dissertation.In the first chapter, the author placed the Rankean historiography into the whole European and German situations at the beginning of the nineteenth century, and researched the Rankean historiography in all his life by studying Ranke's works. With these descriptive parts, the author explained that understanding the historiography is changeable course. So the author explained the circumstance which is benefit to analyze the Rankean historiography profoundly.In the second chapter, the author mainly discussed "what's really happened"of the Rankean historiography. In author's eyes, "what's really happened" of the Rankean historiography is a full system info, and the theory is including three elements which are the criticism of the historical materials, intuition and objectively impartial principle of writing history. These three elements are the connotation of "what's really happened". In this part, the author narrated contents of the three elements and the relationships among them.
