The Thought Of Bi-De In Chinese Traditional Painting

The thought of Bi-de is a unique artistic form in Chinese traditional culture. It reflects the complicated relations between art and ethic. The beautiful and the good have a long close relationship in Chinese culture system. In this thesis, the author firstly traces back to the cultural source of the thought of Bi-de in Chinese traditional painting, and brings to light its internal links with Li-le tradition. After that, the author investigates the formation and the evolution of the thought of Bi-de in Chinese traditional painting as well as the subtle variety between painting and virtue with the development of society and thought. Then the author analyses the artistic form of the thought of Bi-de in Chinese traditional painting, and sets forth the aesthetic value of it. Thus from the point of view of painting, we can have a profound understanding of the deep relationship between art and virtue included in the unique thought of Bi-de in Chinese traditional culture.
