The poetical theory in Jin Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty serves as a link between Song Dynasty and Ming Dynasty. Based on a great deal of poetical materials, the essay sorts out the process of poetical theory of Jin Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty by intergating history and logic, and makes a thorough inquiry of many poetical groups. The essay contains Partâ… , Part â…¡and Concluding Remarks. The introduction in Part I stresses on the change of poetical style in Jin Dynasty and the brief account of poetical theory. Chapter One:"Zhao Binwen and Li Chenpu's Poetical Views"discusses the different poetical trend between them.Chapter Two:"Wang Ruoxu and Liu Qi's Poetical Views"expounds Wang Ruoxu's opinions about poetical principles, creation of poems, appreciation and criticism of poems , and outlines Liu Qi's views in his"Returning Will".Chapter Three:"Yuan Haowen's Poetical Theory"explains in a systematic way the poet's statement on poetical traditions, principles, creation and criticism. "Forword "in Part â…¡narrates briefly the characters of literature in Yuan Dynasty, the Confucian philiosophy's effects on poems and a survey of poetical theory at this time.Chepter One:"Fang Hui's Summary to Jiang Xi School "systematically comments on Fang Hui's unique opinions on poetical style, technique and standard.Chapter Two: "Other Poetical school's Views in Earlier Stage of Yuan Dynasty"analyzes five groups'views,including Northern poets as Li Ye; theorists like Wang Yishan; Vagabond scholars like Yang Gongyuan; the group respecting Tang poetry and returning to simplicity like Dai Biao yuan; and poets like Zhao Wen who stresses on pure emotion in creation. Chapter Three: "Poetical Views of the Group Worshiping the ancients and the Group Worshiping heart in Middle and late Stage of Yuan Dynasty"comments on the views of the five persons, such as Yu Ji, Dai Liang, who pursue an ancient style of elegancy and smoothness. The other seven persons, such as Liu Xi and Yang Weizhen who pay more attention to emotion also have been discussed there. Chapter Four: "Probing into the Poetry and Poetical technology in Tang Poetry "summarizes the trend of "Worshiping Tang Poetry"and analyzes the poetical views in Xin Wenfang's "Talented poets in Tang Dynasty"and Yang Shihong's "Voice in Tang Dynasty"and appraises the writtings on poetical technology of the four persons:Yang Zai, Fang Peng, Jie Xisi, and Fu Ruojin. There is main enquiry of the problems which critics have heatedly discussed in Jin Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty in"Concluding Remarks". And the position that theory on poems in Jin and Yuan Dynasty should occupy also has been evaluated.
