The ranks of the poets in Guangxu and Xuantong Period (of the Qing Dynasty)(光宣诗坛点将录), writed by Wang Pi jiang (汪辟疆), is very famous work, which is helpful to the study of Chinese modern poems. It was finished in 1919, and published in the magazine Jia Yin (甲寅) in five times. Ten years later, that is to say, from 1934 to 1935, it is republished in the magazine Blue Crane (青鹤) continuously. Between 1944 and 1945, Wang Pijiang went on a large number of modifications to his work , and regarded it as a final edition. But the final edition has never been published from then on until the Cultural Revolution saw it be destroyed by fire . In the 1980s, Cheng Qianfan (程千帆) who was Wang Pijiang' s student began to collect and arrange the final edition according to the there incomplete edition, merging into one final text, which was edited into Wang Pijiang's works and in 1988 published in Shanghai Ancient Book Press.In fact Wang Pijiang' s work can be regarded as a Chinese modern poem history, or an outline of the Chinese modern poem history., Wang Pi jiang' s work has described the poem history of period in Qing Dynasty when Guang Xu and Xuan Tong were emperors in brief and accuratly, which includes 192 poets. The important poets of the time have basically been involved, and studied by the way of ranking that told the differences of 192 poets rgarding to their positions, influences, styles and groups of the poetry circle and so on succesfully and effectively. Considering the work in terms of modern academy, the range of historical data that this work involves is very extensive, so the work can well be as the important reference book whenever we study the modern poem history of China.Therefore we would give some value notes to Wang's work in terms of academy, collecting the relevant materials about Wang Pijiang' s other works which would be put where they should be, that is to say, they would be put in the suitable place in the note. Meanwhile, we would regard the ranking as the outline of my thesis while gathering the critical materials about the poets' works at that time together.
