A research on the oral narrative type is the extension of that on the story type. Compared with the history tradition of the story type, the paper focuses on the regional research, which is the integration of the art, folklore and the cultural geography.Some typical stories of marriage between creatures of different species (MBCDS) are used to analyze the reasons for the regional variation, the regional culture space, and the transmission of the oral narrative. The symbol theory is used to analyze the story motif, and the cultural space research is carried out in terms of the history and geography.The dissertation is divided into eight chapters. Chapter one is the introduction. Chapter two describes the relation between the oral narrative of MBCDS and the folklore geography, in terms of the anthropogeography, the folklore semeiology, the culture circle, the culture layer and the culture space. In Chapter three, the author uses the story type of the Chinese-fairy-wife to analyze the interrelation between the role motif, the witch motif and the distribution of the natural creatures, the local religion. Chapter four discusses the structural modality of the Chinese-dragon daughter story, and reveals the evolvement of the narrative text coupling with the control of the local religion. It draws a conclusion that the control of the dragon-god of the Chinese royalty in the political center drives the evolvement of the structural modality of Chinese-dragon daughter narrative text. Chapter five shows that the Chinese-witch story has the transmission feature of the syncretism, which varies with the regions. Furthermore, it points out that the oral narrative expresses the binary opposition structure in the human mind, as a cultural archetype, which widely exists in the real life. Chapter six discusses the evolving reasons of 312A* story type.
