The present dissertation is devoted to discover the generality and particularity of the syntactic object in the Tibeto-Burman languages of the Sino-Tibetan language family in China from the chronic and synchronic perspectives, based on the theories and approaches of modern linguistics. In contrast to Mandarin Chinese, the Tibeto-Burman languages are relatively more developed in morphology and the characteristics of their syntactic objects are mainly realized through syntactic markings, which are addressed in this dissertation through descriptive, explanatory and cross-linguistic typological approaches. It is hoped that the study will contribute to the typological study of Tibeto-Burman syntactic objects.Due to the fact that Tibeto-Burman linguistic studies are still at an early stage of development, a great many linguistic phenomena haven't been investigated adequately either in breadth or in depth. In view of this, the dissertation sticks to the principle of "data first", focusing on the comparison and analysis of data. Meanwhile, modern linguistic theories and approaches are also applied, with the expectation of drawing some general rules which would reflect the characteristics of Tibeto-Burman syntactic objects.The theoretical values of the study lie in (i) its possible contribution to the construction of syntactic theory for the Tibeto-Burman languages, and...
