The Research Of Fredric Jameson's Hermeneutics And Textual Analysis

This research is about Fredric Jameson, a contemporary American literary critic and a leading figure in the fields of literature and cultural studies, as well as one the leaders in Left camp. The focus is on Jameson's contribution to the development of Marxist hermeneutic approach- its methods of textual theory construction, its contents, and its significance in understanding contemporary literature and culture. It also explores Jameson's limitation in terms of theoretical development in this field.A combination of logical reasoning and historical interpretation is the principal line that runs through the entire research. With Jameson's newly re-constructed classic Marxist concepts, like mode of production, ideology, Utopia, etc, as the building blocks, the research attempts to introduce literary/cultural hermeneutics to classic Marxist and contemporary Western Marxist literary theories. It is rooted in both the historic and the present, and combines theory with historical facts with a focus on theory. This research therefore has potential significance in further developing Marxist literary theory by instilling it with Chinese characteristics.
