A Study On Ci World Of Xiaozong Period In Southern Song Dynasty

There were so many outstanding Ci writers such as the great masters Xin Qiji, Jiang Kui as well as those famous writers Lu You, Chen Liang, Fan chengda, Liu Guo, Han Yuanji and Zhang Ci during the period of Xiaozong in the Southern Song Dynasty. They reached the height of artistic attainments of Ci the same as those in Yuanyou period in the Northern Song Dynasty. The dissertation tries to interpret and describe the history, cultural and literary appearance in this period. It consists of two parts with each four chapters.The former part focuses on the relationship inside and outside the Ci world of Xiaozong period. In the first chapter we pay attention to historical background which focuses on Xiaozong's ambition and his rule effect. In the followed chapter the literary theory is concerned as the background too. The third chapter reseaches the relationship between the mode of Ci writer's life and the process of their creation of Ci. To Chinese traditional intellectuals acting as bureaucrats and overlords is the most important life mode, but in the Southern Song Dynasty more and more intellectuals chosen to live in seclusion or live a vagabond life. Then the mode of life led their Ci creation to different function and style. After that chapter we try to find out the tie-point between Ci and Li philosophy which is Xingqing.The latter part studys on Ci as literary composition. As Xin Qiji was a so great Ci writer he collected a crowd of writers. But there was deficient evidence to show a mature school of Ci had been formed. In addition to the group of Xin's, Ci writers centred on the court or local governments or wealthy and influential clan because of Ci's special function of application and recreation. The third chapter in this part focuses on sense of Ci in Xiaozong period. There exists contradiction on Ci such as to raise or bilittle, to repose the fine sentiments or just to play, to produce Ci as utility style of literature or refinements of mind. The last chapter discusses the deepening of artistic quality of Ci. And that is the major reason to reach it's height in Ci world in Xiaozong period.
