The Cognitive Study Of The Modern Chinese Bodily Verbs

This study is concerned with bodily verbs in Modern Chinese under the framework of the Cognitive Linguistics Theory. The Cognitive Linguistics Theory focuses on characteristic of bodily verbs; systemic comprehension, and analytic bodily verbs by in-depth analysis approach.This research is divided in to seven chapters as follows:Chapter One: IntroductionThe introduction addresses the perspective of bodily verbs, and provides an overview of the research. This study of bodily verbs involves: an analysis of many points of view of bodily verbs, bodily verbal features, a study of the structure and type of bodily verb sentences, these factors of bodily verbs analyzed by semantic construction of the bodily verbs sentences, and the metaphorical mechanism of bodily verbs.Chapter Two: Correlation theory of the studies on bodily verbs This chapter identifies the systemic theories for the study of body verbs, introduces a perspective of the theories and discusses the problems of bodily verbs that have to be solved. These issues are the framework of the study on the bodily verbs. Using the Cognitive Experience Theory as a basic framework based on the philosophy of the points of the "body", combine with the Cognitive Experience Theory, in order to identify the principle parts of the bodily verbs. According to this principle verbs are classified as bodily transitive verbs and bodily intransitive verbs. Using the Image Schema Theory determines with the bodily verb syntax systems, proves that bodily verbs focus on the force schema. The force scheme describes and analyses bodily verbal features. In addition, an Argument Structure Theory it uses and combines with a great quantity of linguistic material. The structure role type of bodily verb sentences were employed in to Construction Grammar Theory, in order to argue the semantics of the bodily verbs sentence explain the Conceptual Metaphor Theory, including the metaphorical mechanisms of Chinese bodily verbs.
