This research takes the sentence patterns of Chinese as our object of study, discusses the basis and criterion of categorization of sentence patterns, and analyzes the relationship between the types, structures and linguistic marks of Chinese sentence patterns as well as the relationship between sentence patterns and discourse structure. In the past the researches on sentence patterns are mostly micro-scope studies focused on a certain type of sentences under the framework of 4 major sentence types. A well-rounded and systematic summary and study of Chinese sentence patterns is almost unavailable. Even if in the micro studies, the truth is often covered by the mix of sentence patterns and modal issues. All the above have retarded the progress of Chinese sentence pattern studies and caused great deficiency in the research.By using the speech act theory as foundation and imposing an analysis on speech acts, we take the latter as explanative facts to work on the difficulties in previous studies on sentence patterns. On this ground, a more advanced analysis on the types, structures, linguistic marks and even discourse functions of Chinese sentence patterns are carried out, and a comparatively more comprehensive system of Chinese sentence patterns is initiated.Chapter 1 is an introduction. It first introduces the object and significance of the research, and then points out the deficiency in the past studies on sentence patterns, and analyzes the cause of them. Base on this, it puts forward the theoretical principles and methods that we use: the speech act theory and the method of hypothesis-deduction-demonstration.Chapter 2 mainly discusses the functions of speech act and sentence patterns. Firstly, it demonstrates that the function of sentences is the intention of speech act, i.e. the sentences' language force. Through the re-analysis of speech act, which is used as the premise and basis of deduction, we reason out 8 functional categories of sentences, i.e. 8 sentence patterns. An analysis of their pragmatic conditions is carried out.Chapter 3 mainly discusses functional sub-categories of speech Chinese sentence...
