As one of the most common developmental neuro-psychiatric disorders, Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) has been studied extensively by researchers from cognitive development, developmental psychiatry, paediatrics, etc. However, there are still a lot of controversies around psychopathological issues, and such therapeutic issues as the diagnoses, classification, and rehabilitation of AD/HD.The AD/HD children are characterized by some distinct externalizing behaviors, such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. It is generally assumed that it is easy to describe these symptoms relatively, but the psychological mechanisms that underlie AD/HD have proved very difficult to identify. So its veracity and uniformity of the diagnosis are often influenced by many subjective factors. The pathological condition associated with attention and hyperactivity must be rationally connected to cognitive characteristics rather than solely to clinical symptoms or behavioral ratings. Therefore, more and more researchers have realized that it is important to explore its special processes.Theory need to be combined with practice, and embed in practice. As a tache of between the clinical descriptions and the cognitive mechanism exploration, cognitive assessment system is needed and is closely associated with the accuracy of the diagnosis and classification of AD/HD. Assessment should include both the behavioral symptoms and examination of the possibility of an underlying cognitive deficit, unfortunately, the research of the cognitive assessment for AD/HD is scantly and less pertinence at present. There were mainly two purposes in the present study. First was to expose the cognitive processes characteristic of the AD/HD children with Cognitive Assessment System based on the PASS. Second was to examine the cognitive mechanism of impaired processes by a set of cognitive-behavioral experiments. These experiments were supposed to verify the availability of the cognitive assessment. In addition, the importance and necessary of the cognitive model of AD/HD were discussed in the study. In the present study, we selected subjects from two different approaches, and matched their normal children according to the month of age, grade, gender, geographical region and score of nonverbal Matrices respectably. The characteristic of the cognitive process of the AD/HD children can be reflected clearly from different...
