The Zhanguo Ce clique is the one born in Kunming in 1940s. Because of the complex situation both home and abroad and its unique culture feature as well, the Zhanguo Ce clique brought about severe controversies and influence once it came onto the historic stage. The left-wing literature field animadverted on it to such an extent that it's even rare in the Chinese literature history of 20th century. From then on, the Zhanguo Ce clique was characterized politically as to "proclaim Fascism" and "provide theoretical propaganda for the Kuomintang's reign", which had shadowed it even till the 1980s, and in the early 1990s, some researchers still regarded it as a reactionary clique serving for the Kuomintang's reign with the theoretical propaganda. Therefore, in the Chinese literature history of 20th century, the Zhanguo Ce clique had been obscured. The value it showed in cultural concept, literature theory and literature composing is waiting to be further realized and learnt, though some historic limitation which should have been realized were also obscured. In this dissertation, the Zhanguo Ce clique is going to be studied in the comprehensive culture structure in 1940s with a whole perspective of the Chinese 20th century literature, so as to find out its constitutes and source of theory and differentiate and analyze its core culture concept, literature opinions and the practice of literature composing. At the same time, it will also analyze the debate between the Zhanguo Ce clique and the left-wing literature field by the full and accurate first-hand materials and analyze its all kinds of opinions and the values and historical limitations of the political concepts, literature concepts and practice of the literature composing so as to meditate the clique's history and take the left-wing literature field's critique on Zhanguo Ce clique as a typical example and further try to revalue its position in the Chinese 20th century literature history.This dissertation is composed of three chapters. In the first one, through the analysis of the component and the source of the theory of Zhanguo Ce clique, it is defined to be a loose culture clique composing of liberalism intellectuals who is mainly made up of a group of college professors with Lin tong ji, Lei hai zong, Chenshuan as the represents. Based on such magazines as Zhanguo Ce , Takungpao·zhanguo supplement and National Literature, the Zhanguo Ce clique had been disseminating all kinds of theoretical contestation on literature. The main represents of Zhanguo Ce clique almost have studied abroad, therefore, they are quite familiar with the occidental cultural resources because of their experiences abroad, especially like the German culture among all the occidental thoughts. They apply Spengler's historical viewpoint of cultural morphology to the study of Chinese history and culture and set up the historical viewpoint of cultural morphology in China.
