When Modernization becomes a trend, when Globalization changes the world into a Global Village, every nation has been involving in Modernization and Globalization. In the Globalization Era, culture is multivariate. But it should not be denied that every kind of weak culture faces Growing Crisis caused by strong cultures. Chinese Culture is one of the weak cultures when compared with western cultures, which is developing under great pressure of Globalization.As most Chinese know, China is the latter of Modernization and faces many development problems. So according to this, we call China's Modernization an Overtaking Modernization. Comapratively, the west of China is the latter of China's Modernization and the mission of overtaking modernization is more pressing. In the process of keeping pace with Modernization, many people stress developing economy preferentially, but now the big problem is that economy and culture develope asynchronously. This has caused a deficiency of value and has influenced our existing. We also call it a Growing Crisis to Chinese Culture.Hui Nationality's culture, one part of Chinese Culture, also a minority culture and weak culture, is under great pressures from both Globalization and Modernization. Its Growing Crisis is no less thanChinese Culture.Based on the understanding of these issues that culture exists because of the existing of human being; the ultimate value of culture should be human's free and all-round development and traditional culture should and must be transformed into modern one, the author chooses Tongxin Community of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region as one of the types to study cultural change. In the subjective and objective perspective, firstly, the author describes the cultural change of Hui Nationality in Tongxin Community since China's liberation, and then sees about it microcosmically. Sencondly, on the basis of some cultural phenomenon, the author points out Tongxin Hui's cultural mindsets in the period of cultural change, indicates some problems in its cultural change and summarizes the reasons, features, and influences. Fianally, the author makes a conclusion, that is, Tongxin Hui's cultural change is still far away from the so-called Kinetic Equilibrium.By studying cultural change of Tongxin Community, the author hopes to make clear that Hui are seeking for their cultural root. With the knowledge of social anthropology, the author discusses the degree and orientation of Hui's culture development and their Cultural Consciousness.This thesis is an applied study on cultural change, the importance of which is not only to propagandize culture actively, but also to emphasizethe coherence in culture development and the ultimate value of culture.In the process of writing, the author mainly uses modern social anthropology theories such as cultural relativism, cultural transmission, and cultural ecology. In light of the research findings about Tongxin Hui's culture of Ningxia are not enough, the author uses comparative and analytical method in research.The thesis consists of five parts.Part 1, Chapter 1, is the basic introduction of Tongxin Community, including its population, history of Hui Nationality, natural environment and people's economic life. This part also gives an overview of traditional culture of Tongxin Hui Nationality, including material culture, social system culture and spiritual culture.Part 2, Chapter 2 and 3, is the main body of this thesis. In Chapter 2, the author specifies Tongxin Hui's cultural change, especially changes of cultural form. According to time, the author shows the whole cultural change of Tongxin Hui Community at three different stages in Chinese modern history. According to space, the author gives an account of the cultural change in village community and town community, which stands for local cultural change. Considering the function of cultural transmission, the author not only traces the situation of Tongxin Hui's culture transmitting out, but also concerns the situation of outer culture transmitting to Tongxin Community. Taking those who were born inTongxin Hui community but now are in Beijing as an example, the author reveals their cultural identity to Tongxin Hui's culture, which stands for Tongxin Hui's cultural change in city community.In Chapter 3, the author starts to analysis Tongxin Hui's cultural change in microcosmic view, that is, cultural change to individuals. This part presents peoples' behavior, conception and so on in culture change, including individuals' actions contrary to morality, Hui's personality, behavior in language using, attitude and behavior to ecology.In Part 2, the author presents that of Tongxin Hui's cultural change is not in balance. In material field changes are much more with rapid changing speed, but in spirit field changes are less with slower changing speed. At the same time, the author thinks that Tongxin Hui's unbalanced cultural change exists almost in every community and among all different cultural groups who participate in the process of cultural change but with different attitudes and views.Part 3 refers to Chapter 4. In this part, the author presents the problems in Tongxin Hui's cultural change, first mentions some cultural phenomenon and points out the cultural mindsets of Tongxin Hui Nationality. Secondly, points out the unitary problems in this cultural change. Finally, stresses on the problems in different Hui Community in Tongxin County.Part 4 is Chapter 5, in which the author analysises reasons ofTongxin Hui's cultural change, summarizes the features of changing culture, and points out the influences of this cultural change.Part 5 is Chapter 6. The author looks this cultural change of Tongxin Community as a miniature of Hui society, moves eyesight to the whole Hui society and then analysis the reasons why Hui are still looking for their cultural root. On basis of stating the Growing Crisis of Hui's culture, the author treats of Hui's culture development, especially its degree and orientation.
