As far as the current status of Pan Tianshou research is concerned, the systematical organization of his theories on the Chinese landscape painting and personal creation experience have always been lagging behind, there are many important issues still waiting for our further exploration.In the history of Chinese Modern Landscape Painting, Pan Tianshou is a paragon of 'innovation out of tradition'. He was a master of tradition, but he also faced with brand-new artistic problems. From Pan Tianshou's paintings, we can see that Chinese paintings, especially the Chinese landscape painting has become a spiritual sustenance of national cultural psyche and historical emotion. On this basis, his landscape painting creation and theoretical explorations has possessed a brand-new historical significance.On the issue of modern landscape painting transformation,what Pan Tianshou has presented is quite unique. He has achieved the transformation of the inherent formal language in Chinese painting,such as the change of composition,brushwork,size and form of paintings, which are all the inherent language transformation of Chinese art history. In addition, Pan Tian shou had an in-depth comparative of Eastern and Western art. He has analysed the difference of perspective,color,composition and taste between Water-Ink Painting and Landscape Painting.This comparison manifested the special value of Chinese Landscape Painting, and laid the theoretical foundation for the education of modern Chinese Landscape Painting. From the perspective of the epochal characteristics,Pan Tianshou's landscape painting has reflected a far-reaching epochal significance on artistic taste and style and strengthened the robust and plain national feeling, which had a special inspiration on our personality cultivation.This thesis has discussed closely on the above-mentioned three sections and applied the method of formal analysis to compare Pan Tianshou with the previous traditional painters and the contemporary landscape artists. Furthermore, this thesis will highlight Pan Tianshou's important achievements on the above-mentioned three aspects.
