Shuikou is developed together with the development of landscape painting.In the process of development,water gaps become the symbol of freehand brushwork in landscape painting.This thesis summarize the appliance and evolution of water gap in landscape painting through documents research,works analysis,conclusion etc.The thesis can be divided into three parts.Discuss the aesthetics of water gap and state water gap from different aspects.Part one,start from definition and classification of water gap.Analyze and explain water gap through documents collection.Sort out classic pattern of water gap in landscape painting.Elaborate the shape difference of water gap in the south and north by means of comparison.Part two,the concept of traditional landscape painting emphasize the harmony of human and nature.Geomantic learn represent the harmony of human and nature.Landscape painting represent different artistic characteristic in different stages.The evolutions of styles not only appear in the whole style of landscape painting but also in each element in landscape painting.This part will elaborate the evolution of water gap from the initial representation to symbol of freehand brushwork together with the evolution of styles of landscape paintingPart three;discuss the value and meaning of water gap in landscape painting from the view of aesthetics.Black and white,activity and inertia,hiding and showing all belong to the scope of aesthetics.As the symbol of freehand brushwork in landscape painting,water gap has its own formal beauty.At the same time,the thesis discusses the formal beauty of water gap combining with the drawing method of water gap.Additional,water gap in different position in landscape painting can bring different feeling of aesthetics to viewers.
