Long March is a great epic composed by Chinese people and Chinese army under the leadership of Chinese Communist Party (CPC). It is a significant victory of strategic shift, after the duration of two years with Zunyi Conference the turning point, and by following the three connections of Party's and the nation's fate, military and political strategic shifts, and orientation of Long March and advance of Anti-Japanese War. The victory of Long March initiated and realized the great shift of Chinese Revolution from suffering setbacks to enjoying victory: the Party, Red Army and Chinese Revolution pull through the crisis; defeated imperial aggression of Japanese; brought forth the dawn of a new country established with independence, freedom, democracy, unification and prosperity and power; promoted solidarity and maturation of the Party, and set a fundamental basis for Chinese revolution and construction.Long March is a significant historic event in the history of CPC and Chinese revolution, a "gold key" in understanding and researching the great achievements conducted by CPC. The victory of Long March made CPC known to the world, and extended the position and influence of CPC in the world. Thus, in the new era, the research of the historical standing and effects of Long March shall be of great significance.Erroneous ideas and tendency of research on Long March abroad existed for the difference of political stands and values. So, a new study of Long March becomes a necessity for upholding its dignity, inheriting and carrying on and promoting its spirit. Meanwhile, the new study shall help to understand the developments of the shaping of the Party's leadership and leadership system; help to assure and follow the objective laws in the process of the localization of Marxism and Leninism in China and localized Marxism in China; and help to understand and assure the developments of the spirit of Chinese revolution and national spirit. Great importance has been attached to the study of Long March both at home and abroad over the time. Great achievements of Long March have been reached, with a creative feature and trend since the opening of China in 1978. However, the focal points in these researches varied, of which the study of the historical standing and effects of Long March remains the weakest part. It is found in these studies that they are limited in angles of view, and depth and width of theoretical analysis. Long March will continue to present its permanent glamour with the process of history. Thus, it has become a pressing demand to conduct a new study on the historical standing and effects on Long March with a historical and realistic height and a broader prospective.Adopting the fundamental methodologies of dialectic materialism and historical materialism, this study probes into the historical standing and effects of Long March, attempting to summarize the developmental laws in Chinese revolution in the following aspects: historical and logical treatment of Long March, military, political and ideological struggles, studies in China and abroad, relation between history and reality, and the "six turns and one spirit".Chapter 1: Analysis of the necessity and historical process of the forming of the new leadership in Long March. It is of great significance in the victory of Long March and Chinese revolution and construction. As for the guiding thought, Long March made possible the turn from city to the countryside; and in practice, it was one successful example of countryside-centered Chinese revolution. It also made clear that China-colored revolutionary line includes not only the "revolutionary center" issue including both city and countryside, but also the "revolutionary crux" issue concerned North and South. It made mature the line theory and extended its connotation. Long March started and primarily realized the turn of the Party's strategies from united revolutionary line to patriotic united line, sufficiently reflected the Party's advance, and became the starting point to turn to Anti-Japanese war from the Civil War, established a sound foundation for the victory of Anti-Japanese War, and gained rich experience for Chinese national prosperity. The principle of independence and self-reliance established in the Long March promoted the maturity of he Party, and its relationship with International Communist Organization and the Party's influence in the world. Long March blazed new trails for the localization of Marxism in China, making organizational, ideological and practical foundations for the maturity of Mao Ze Dong Thought, a turning point of Mao Ze Dong Thought from formation to maturity. The Long March Spirit cultivated in the Long March is a heritage and sublimation of the excellent Chinese cultural traditions, and sublate of modern Chinese revolution spirit. It reflects CPC's revolutionary spirit and is the "flow" of Jing Gang Shan Spirit and "source" of Yan'an Spirit. Long March spirit has become the inexhaustible spiritual dynamics of maintaining CPC members' advance, and a mighty spiritual support for the realization of great revival of Chinese nation.
