Musical And Artistic Characteristics Analysis Of Cavatina "The Peach Blossom In March" In The Opera "Long March"

The Long March of Chinese Workers'and Peasants'Red Army was a great miracle in human history.This historical event subsequently gave birth to the;"Long March spirit",which in turn embodies the Chinese national quality,featuring indomitability and relentless self-improvement.With the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Long March just around the corner,the National Grand Theatre unveiled a large-scale original Chinese epic opera:The Long March,the performance of which,during its first iteration held on July 1st,2016,in the National Grand Theatre,had proven to be a success,gaining wide praise from people from all walks of life.This thesis will analyze musical and artistic characteristics of cavatina;"The Peach Blossom in March"in the opera "Long March",this paper probed into the artistic values of this musical piece.This paper is divided into such five parts as the Introduction,chapters one through three,and finally ended with the Epilogue.In the introduction part,the author explains the reason why chooses the topic,purpose and significance,research status,main research methods and innovations.The first chapter briefly summarizes the background and plots of Long March to foreshadow the following chapters.The second chapter elaborates the function of the repeated aria;"The Peach Blossom in March" serving as a thread through the opera to promote the development of plots.Besides,it analyzes the music to understand the structure and singing techniques of the aria.The third chapter analyzes artistic characteristics of-;"The Peach Blossom in March".The author analyzes three aspects including the basis of national culture,people-centered needs and the combination of art and times.A conclusion is drawn that it is important to maintain the essence of traditional Chinese culture while absorbing western culture during the process of creating artistic works.Lastly,in the Epilogue,a summary of this paper,along with the expectations of the future development of China's opera from a personal perspective,is presented.
