In Japan ,the prosperous period of the novel creation was in modern times, when many outstanding types of novels were born, such as, kanazosi, ukiyozosi, yomihon, syarebon, kibyosi, ninjyobon, kokeihon and gokan . The modern times' novel viewpoints are the novelists' opinions towards the aesthetic standards, creative attitude , theme inclination , the proportion of reality and fiction as well as social function of novels. But these opinions can't reach the height of theoretical level, they are only the creative thoughts expressed in the works or some feelings reflected in the preface and postscript as well as the comments . The opinions are some novel viewpoints that are in a hazy state. So they badly require to be summarized and extracted by the researchers. In modern Japan, the confusianism was regarded as the dominated thinking of the government . In the literary and art circles , they carried out the theory of " promoting kindness and punishing evilness", excluding and suppressing the novels based on love , funny or monstrous stories . In order to avoid punishment, the novelists all flaunted their own works as " promoting kindness and punishing evilness" . However, with the commodity and economy prosperous , the rising of the popular literature was another important character in modern times . The two types of literary viewpoints sometimes went hand in hand in harmony and sometimes conflicted with each other fiercely . But it was hard for the declining warrior class to prevent the popular literature developing . Some novel viewpoints in modern times revealed the praise for money and sexual passion as well as the sneer and even subversion to the feudal autocracy and the confusianism. The formation of the novel viewpoints in modem Japan was deeply influenced by Chinese ancient literary theory , which was perfect in form and rich in comtents . When it went into Japan , the Japanese novelists and critics accepted it modestly and imitated it actively. They stated their own understanding of the novel creation and reading appreciation in the preface and postscipt ,letters and some related comments. Most of their statements were the reproduction of the novel viewpoints in Ming and Qing dynasty . Although they lacked systematicness and logicality , the maturation could be seen in them. Some Japanese novelists could also combine them with the Japanese traditional literature or their own experience. Therefore , their novel viewpoints took on a new look . And even some intellectuals began to compare the novels and related comments between China and Japan. In their statements, we can see not only the accurate understanding of the differences and similarities between the two countries' novels but also some prejudice caused by their national sentiments and their limited level. But needless to say, the sense of comparative literature can be seen clearly. In this article , the novel viewpoints in modern Japan are summarized as seven parts , and people pick up some words from the Japanese to summarize the characters of the viewpoints , that is , the pathos, the ukiyo , the popular stories, the weird and mystery , the allegory , promoting kindness and punishing evilness and so on . The writer will use the specific works and some related comments to give a thorough research on the novel viewpoints in modem Japan, esp the characters , cause of formation, influence as well as the connection with the Chinese literature .Besides, there is something to be definite: these novel viewpoints are not separate single parts without any connection but almost every novel is made up of several novel viewpoints . They are the fruit of thinking the novels' aesthetic standards , creative attitude, theme inclination and so on.
