Mr. He Shaoji lived during year Jiaqing,Daoguang,Xianfeng and Tongzhi. He had a position in whether academic history in late Qing Dynasty or the history of poetry or even epigraphy. At the same time, Shaoji had a very rich administrative life experience and a wide range of friendship circle. Therefore, he was not only a promoter for many important academic, literary and cultural events but also a witness to the related activities in the same period. So it will not only help us understand his academic and artistic features but also master academic and artistic development direction in late Qing Dynasty as a starting point through research on Shaoji. So far, numerous achievements have been made in the study of Shaoji's poems, calligraphy and many other fields in the academics. However, no informative chronicle of Shaoji has come out so far. Although some scholars have done some basic work to compile a summary of Shaoji's life, they have not done enough to fully reflect the approximate acting life of Shaoji because of its negligence. Therefore, the author compiled the long chronicle in order to collect the related deeds of Mr. He's life and provide historical data for the further in-depth study of Shaoji.Mr. He Shaoji was the first important calligrapher who fully practiced epigraphy living during year Daoguang and Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty after the theory promotion by Ruan Yuan and Bao Shichen. He enriched epigraphy practice with his characteristic calligraphy creation. On one hand, He Shaoji's retro-thinking in his epigraphy was from his predecessors. His emphasis on the realm of Zhuan, Fen, his skill of the practice of epigraphy learning and his unique way of handling the traditional brush all reflected the fashion of the epigraphy time. On the other hand, he started the innovation of epigraphy by transforming Li writing into Xing writing and inclusion of epigraphy. At the same time, he was full of contradictions. He had contradictions in his mind whether from his attitude toward epigraphy in Bei times or the classic calligraphy in Jin and Tang Dynasty. We try to make clear of He Shaoji's view on the epigraphy and its creation practice at different times by research on his calligraphy theory and practice. We try to clarify the aesthetic origin of his epigraphy thinking based on the evolution features of his epigraphy calligraphy development. We also try to find the logic relationship between all the elements during the development of He Shaoji's epigraphy calligraphy, and show the particularity of He Shaoji under epigraphy background by comparing him with other epigraphers in his time.
