Disciplines And Thoughts: The Origin Of Modern Chinese Aesthetics

This thesis mainly research the formation of modern Chinese Aesthetic discipline and important thought scope involved. It develops as below: First, trace back to the starting point of history of China-West communication and establish the background of necessary knowledge and thoughts discussed afterwards. Secondly,collect the texts relating to the formation of modern Chinese Aesthetics as far as possible and pay attention to the origin and change of key words and theory of this discipline.Thirdly,focus on institutional factors of the establishment of this discipline and its historical change.Fourthly, make comparative research on the important scope relating to modern Chinese aesthetic thoughts such as scientificism, religion,morals and Marxism.This thesis insists on the following routes and methods: Lay stress on the accumulation of documents and materials from which make this research. Establish the route of logic analysis on the base of historical analysis.Put an eye on the accomplishments of the discipline concerned in order to expand the field of vision. Make research centering on the issues to reveal the continuity of history and thoughts itself.This thesis attempts to acquire the following results:Sort out the basic documents of modern Chinese aesthetic history and compile them. Research the formational history of modern Chinese Aesthetic discipline in order to make up a deficiency of the current Academy. Probe into the modern reversion of traditional Chinese aesthetic and the communication to western aesthetic thoughts.Reveal the complicated relation between aesthetics and religion ,science, morals in modern Chinese aesthetic history. Rethink the relation between aesthetics and the present life which aesthetics should have paid serious attention to.
