Research On The Interior Design And Construction Of Qing Dynasty

Interior design and construction of Qing dynasty was the most complex and glorious period during the History of Chinese interior design and construction.Qing dynasty was the period which summed up the achievements of before and began to transform.The achievements acquired in Qing dynasty include:Qing dynasty had made great progress in the construction technology and crafts;the form of interior space varied more and more complicated,methods of dividing space became plentiful; construction was terse and practical;decorative materials were plentiful and usage of materials was exquisite;types of furniture and furnishing were more abundant than any times before,crafts of manufacture were developed,furnishing and interior decoration formed an art composition together,entirety and humanity were emphasized in interior design and construction.During the period of Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong,Qing Dynasty traded with foreign countries more and more.Architectural forms of Western Counries gragually affected Chinese decorative art;Qing government even began to build architectures in Western architectural style.Especially,Western architectural style had great influences on ahchitectures in harbor city of Qing Dynasty.In the last period of Qing dynasty,Chinese interior design and construction developed in a state of non-linear because of western cultural influence,and began the process of transformation.During the period of transformation,Chinese interior design and construction was in condition of connecting link between the preceding and the following;merge between China and the Western,joint between the new and the old. On the one hand,Chinese traditional culture of architecture and technology continued; on the other hand,Western architectural culture and technology began to spread in China.These two trends of architectural development interacted(collided,alternated, fused).All these made architectures during the last period of Qing dynasty come into a kind of complex situation;Architectural phenomena were more plentiful and complex than any other country of the same time.Chinese interior design and construction had come into a state of pluralistic development.Qing dynasty summed up the achievements of interior design and construction before by diffirent methods of practising,and interior design and construction of Qing dynasty began to transform under the influences of the outer factors.The style of Qing dynasty's Interior design and construction was magnificent, luxury and over-decorated with details,it showed in several trends:decorative, superfine,popular,stylized,luxury and etc.In this paper,the author tries to research and analyze the entire features of Qing dynasty's Interior design and construction,reveal the character of art and developing progress,and consider the attitude of treating tradition again,hope to help ourselves to walk out the dire strait of the phenomenon which the design forms of today become similar more and more under the situation of modernization:we should treat traditional culture of ourselves and other nations including the Western in the opened attitude,and look upon the past,today and future in the moving view.
