| With special contribution, Wen-hua film studio is a unique case in the history of Chinese film development. It's there, Wen-hua style, which not only shows a milestone in the Chinese films, but also lets us to recognize a successful business model of old China' s film industry. Due to the "extremely left" politics which had influenced the study of Chinese film history, the research of many Wen-hua topics had been overlooked. Now, with new-found historical material and without the old political criteria, I systematically study the arts, the texts, the society impact and the market success of Wen-hua, so the old film history of Wen-hua era is rewriten and a historical status of Wen-hua film is reset.This thesis focus on a special period in Chinese film history, which is from 1946 when Wen-hua studio was founded to 1953 when Wen-hua studio had totally merged into the state owned enterprises. For Wen-hua studio in that time span, this thesis will investigate its creative style, the phenomenon of authers, and the cultural implication comprehensively.The thesis is divided into seven chapters to carry out in-depth study. Chapter I mainly stated the importance of wenhua company in research of Chinese film history and Chinese film cultural values, and explains how to combine three research methods which are auteur theory, film text study and film cultural study, to target specific industrial and artistic works for the division and summarized.The purpose of writing in the second chapter is first to overview Wenhua Studio and its artistic achievements. As Wenhua Film Studio is one of the most important economic entities of Chinese film studio in the late of 1940' s, and it also across the founding stage of the early of P.R.China, wenhua film are also appeared in two stage expression in both creation external environment and creation internal cultural values. In this humanistic background, the thesis at beginning discribe the movie's political environment, capital structure, as well as the flow of creators of Wen-hua in the two stages. And then this thesis will also describe the Wen-hua film art style, achievements and its impact on next generations.From the third chapter to chapter IV, Chapter V So far, this artile will divide Wen-hua authers into three categories. In searching of their commonality, this article will also explained in detail each writer's creative personality. In chapter III, this article will separately addressed to analysis those films, which is represented by Hu Sang and Ailing Zhang before 1949, in order to highlight the "Qu-ju" genra. Images in their movies was full of descriptions of daily life, which show not only those daily life complexity and ambiguity meaning, but also the city "live" imprinting. In chapter IV, by describing Fei-Mu, Zuo-lin, and Cao Yu, who are linked to Chinese Drama, as an example, innovative movie art form, to the illustrate wen-hua movie achievements in the pursuit of Chinese movie nationalization. Chapter V mainly describes two important representatives, which are Shi-Hui and Chen xi-he, after the founding of New China, and to explore with them how to take the initiative to move closer to the mainstream ideology, and how to successfully set up their own unique, authentic aesthetic revolution.Based on in the former description in detail about political, industrial and wen-hua author, and so on, Chapter VI summarized Wen-hua film culture how to realize its transformation from metropolis modernity to revolutionary modernity. Finally, in the conclusion part of this article, we can put wen-hua film into the Shanghai Film culture to inspect, as one of representative of Shanghai style film, to discuss weh-hua intellectuals how to constructe Shanghai cinema culture played an active role. |
